-(G)- ‘Die Idee zu diesem Stück kam mir, als ich in einer Zeitschrift eine Maske sah, die der als „painted face“ bekannten Maske in der Pekinger Oper sehr ähnelte. Trotz der Strenge jeder Linie und Gesichtswinkel, die in die Maske geschnitzt waren, entstand der Eindruck eines konturenreichen und ausdrucksstarken Gesichts. Aufgrund dieser Beobchtung entwarf ich zwei Rollen. Beide sind sehr gezwungen und streng, aber sehr unabhängig. Die Beziehung zwischen beiden Rollen ist wie des Schnitzers Messer, der Konturen entwirft und Leben und Energie durch diese Strenge schafft.’ Dieses Werk ist eine Kammerensembleversion von NABRIPAMO. -(E)- The core idea of the work came from a picture of a mask I saw in a magazine, very similar to the character mask known as "painted face" in Peking (Beijing) opera. I was amazed that despite the rigidity of each line and angle carved into the mask, the impression was of a well-contoured and expressive face. Based on this observation I created two roles. Both are very constrained and rigid but are interdependent. That is, the relationship between the two roles is like the carver's knife, creating contours which bring life and energy out through this rigidity.’ This work is a chamber ensemble version of NABRIPAMO.
