This method is for young students (8 to 12 years old). It can be used for 18 months to 2 years. It consists of eight groups of four lessons. The fourth lesson of each group is always a review of the acquisitions contained in the previous three. Students can start at the same time the flute and solfeggio which the preliminary study is not necessary. There is little advice on posture, breathing, hand position, etc. This method can only be used with the help of a teacher who will, from the first lesson, transmit as he sees fit, his own technical and musical principles - as his name indicates (Hodos: route), it is only a path - it is up to the students and their teachers to make the trip ... The whole method can be used in individual lessons but also as part of a group pedagogy. All duets, trios and quartets can be played alone (or with the accompaniment of the teacher). In any case, we will be able to work on each part of the ensemble pieces. Popular songs used are often ignored by children. That's why the lyrics are written. It is appropriate to sing them ... The exercises are deliberately very short. They are always in relation to the pieces they precede. It is not always useful to work them all - too many exercises and pieces are planned for each lesson! In the context of group pedagogy, it will be easy to distribute them. In any case, it will be useful to come back to lessons already worked. Some elements can be used for short deciphering exercises. The students' imagination is frequently solicited very briefly and very simply. This is not, for the authors, recreation, but a strong and founding element of the musical and technical education of a flutist. A big thank you to Nelly Papion and Clément Joubert, who teach at the Conservatoire d'Orléans and who, with their students, discovered and explored these lessons.
