Initially, Lalo was intended for the career of officer, but being revealed early by his musical gifts, he finally begins a career of musician. His concerto in D minor, barely less fiery than his "Spanish Symphony", is well known to all cellists. Many virtuosos, from Julius Klengel to Leonard Rose, published their own editions of the concerto in their time. This Urtext edition leaves out all the additions from these different publishers but offers in addition to the fingerless part a technical arrangement made by the famous virtuoso cellist Heinrich Schiff. At the same time as the reduction for piano, score, pocket score and orchestral material are published by Éditions Breitkopf - Härtel.
