The three Duets for clarinet and bassoon WoO 27 are stylistically linked to Beethoven's first creative period. By their playful character, the subtle play of timbres and the absence of great technical difficulties, they have always counted among the pieces of bravery of chamber music for wind instruments and among the favorite pieces of pupils and students. The only source of the text is an edition published only after the death of the composer, probably a reprint of the Paris editions, as little found today as the original manuscripts. This edition conforms to the text of the complete edition of Beethoven's works (vol. VI / 1) - alternative parts for clarinet in B flat and Ut are attached to the score of the bassoon._
