The Piano Quartet op. 15 has been re-edited many times, it was one of Fauré's compositions that helped to make his reputation as a chamber music composer. The Piano Quartet op. 45, although not as popular during Fauré's lifetime, has become a standard in chamber music concerts. This Urtext edition is based on the first edition engraved by Röder, but it also relies on Fauré's autographs for exact placement of dynamics and articulation.
