Edward Elgar's Salvation in Love is one of those works by the English master whose melodies are simply unforgettable. This piece quickly began its triumphant world tour. As indicated in notes in the autographs preserved versions for violin and piano (HN 1188), cello and piano (HN 1189) and piano only, Elgar himself planned to make arrangements for all kinds of instrumental formations- however, only the three versions cited are certified by an original manuscript. Among these, the piano version holds a very special place: as Caroline Alice Roberts was the piano student of Elgar, the composer could have reworked the original for violin and piano for his fiancée and future wife. In addition to the first printed edition, we also examined Elgar's autograph print model for the first time.
