6 anonymous pieces for guitar selected and reviewed by Marc Bataïni from the transcription of the manuscript for lute by Oscar Chilesotti The 6 pieces presented in this collection are from a manuscript for lute, now extinct, dating from the sixteenth century and transcribed in modern notation by the Italian musicologist Oscar Chilesotti (1848-1916). We have revised the transcription for guitar by transposing some bass and intermediate notes to the upper octave and freely completing some chords, so as to propose a guitar version, which falls under the fingers, while respecting the harmonic rules and practices. force during the Renaissance period (perfect agreements rather little reversed, absence of sevenths of dominant, agreements without third ...). The metronomic indications and the nuances that we suggest, will surely allow a better understanding of the character of each piece of the collection. We hope, by this work of revision, to give a second youth, a new luster, to these small musical masterpieces of very high inspiration. The combination of these pieces into a small suite could be an ideal introduction to a solo concert performance. Finally, we dedicate this work to Oscar Caceres who made us discover these little musical wonders.
