Johann Sebastian Bach was not only a genius composer, but also a wise pedagogue. Even today, many novice pianists learn through their "Inventions" and "Sinfonias" the rudiments of piano technique and at the same time learn about the constituent elements of classical music. Bach entitled the 15 pieces with 2 votes "Inventions", those with 3 votes (15 also) "Sinfonias". He placed in his collection a very interesting preface to read, dedicated to "those who love the keyboard, especially those who want to learn." This preface, together with an explanatory table extracted from the Clavierbüchlein für Wilhelm Friedemann Bach on the execution of the most used ornaments, is appended to this edition.
