It is above all the elements coming from the dance and its Spanish color that make the piano music of Albéniz properly irresistible. Asturias combines these elements with the greatest refinement. First published in 1892 in the Suite Chants d'Espagne under the title of Prélude (HN 782), and reappeared in 1901, then integrated under the title Asturias in the Spanish Suite (HN 783), this play quickly became the 'one of the most appreciated works of the composer.
