Sonatas for violin, volume 1
MOZART

Mozart did not indulge in any other genre of chamber music as much as that of duets for piano and violin, whether sonatas or variations. Exploiting the possibilities of interaction of these two instruments by combinations and crossings always renewed, in particular in the sonatas, he thus composed works of pure and timeless beauty combining dramatic force, elegance and depth of feelings .
Volume I contains the six sonatas composed during his trip to Paris and to Paris itself, published there as opus 1. The musicians may regret the absence of the K. 296 sonata which precedes them in the Köchel catalog of Mozart's works, but which he had nevertheless published at the same time as the five pieces K. 376 to 380 and which appears with them in volume II.
