Creation and music of the 20th and 21st century

This eclectic recital of Fazil Say is shared with the young French-German cellist Nicolas Alstaedt.
It begins with a composition of Fazil Say "four cities", musical celebration, commissioned by the BBC, 4 Turkish cities that have marked its existence.
Three works by Debussy, Janacek and Shostakovich complete this magnificent and very accessible recording of 20th and 21st century music.

4 Cities is a dive into the world of poetry, mysticism, history, secrets and passions of the East. I have never been more fascinated than to discover this work which deals with miracles and stories of the daily life of the Turkish people, defying the limits of my instrument. The cello turns into a flute, a violin, a percussion, until it becomes the voice of the Turkish people, who invites us to a world that seems closer to us by having met him through his music
