Johann Joseph Fux's Gradus ad Parnassum occupies a unique place in works on music. Illustrious treaty, whose use by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, in particular, is attested. Paradoxically, it was up to now quite inaccessible in France. This new translation by Simonne Chevalier, both unpublished and complete, gives this text, the original version of which is sometimes obscure or confused, the clarity and intelligibility which it has hitherto lacked in French. The Editions Gabriel Foucou, which have given themselves the mission of publishing the works of Jean-Louis Fabre, are happy to publish today this prestigious treatise of counterpoint.
