Short treat for actors and lovers of Alexandrine

A verse is nothing if it is not said. This is true everywhere, but particularly in French, where the verse of the tragedy is also that of the epic and the lyric poetry: the Alexandrine, key of all the poetry since Ronsard until Rimbaud. Still, it must be said how it should be. But to say a verse, it does not matter either the mood of the moment or craft recipes. The essential recourse is quite different: it is the language.

By means of the laws of language and by means of the rules of the verse which are easily deduced, everyone will be able to handle the Alexandrine. It will be up to him to regulate his voice and his breath on what is so required. Finally, he will be able to say, that is to say to hear and to make the verse heard - which is a pleasure.
