On the way back to the country, a soldier meets the Devil who offers him a market: his violin against a book that can predict the future. The soldier agrees. He will become wealthy, then stripped of everything to reclaim his violin and the heart of a princess. Alas ... On the CD, Denis Lavant, the narrator, is literally inhabited by this work. His characters (a formidable devil, a candid soldier but not that ...), his interpretation, powerful and visionary, captivate and thrill. The score, written for seven musicians, is entrusted to the Orchester de la Garde Républicaine, directed here by François Boulanger. The book offers a summary for each scene and documentary extensions to guide listening: the violin at Stravinsky and popular music, what is a drum? a hawker? etc. Illustrated by Nathalie Novi, the book works as a decoration whose pages are turned every scene, every change of point of view. A musical tale for everyone from 8 years old.
